New Music Classes in Lahaina

For Immediate Release: 7-5-2017 New Music Programs Starting in Lahaina Come celebrate with Maui Music Mission at their Open House on Friday, July 14 from 4-7pm. Enjoy live entertainment, food, activities, and more at this fundraiser to help support expanded fall programs in their new facility. We all need music in our lives. Imagine your favorite movie without a soundtrack. No CD’s, radio, mp3 or live theater. No singing, no rhythm to get you going and sustain you for even a precious three minutes. Life without music is lonely, and there’s been a sore lack of music education available to those who can benefit the most from it here in Lahaina. Reuben and Ronda Pali have been teaching low-cost music lessons for the past three years, beginning with the Hawaiian ukulele, then adding voice, piano, violin, and other instruments. Their company has grown from a few students meeting at the park after school, to an enrollment of 33 and now securing their own permanent facility. Reuben Pali is thrilled over the community response explaining; “We’re shaping up to be a full-time music school, and we are inspired by the amount of support that we’ve been receiving toward that vision.” The After School Music Club has been such a great success. Kids are overcoming their fears daily as they are empowered to express their talents. On-stage performances are part of the regime, so there are many opportunities to shine at locations such as The Lahaina Cannery Mall and The Outlets Of Maui. “Now that we have our own classrooms, we’re able to offer Homeschool Music and Preschool, as well as community groups for all ages.” Elementary and High-school level classes are available for homeschoolers this fall. Students begin with a variety of musical concepts and instruments. As they progress, they’ll choose a favorite instrument to play as part of an ensemble. Homeschool Ensemble includes both band and orchestral instruments. Preschoolers and their parents will enjoy a fun half-hour twice per week with rhythm, dance, games, and instruments. This class helps create a structure for beginning to learn music, including parent support, which is a key factor in each student’s success. Beginning Violin is offered as an elective on Mondays, and there’s also a new Youth Symphony led by Ms. Ana Kalina of Maui Chamber Orchestra. Chorus elective meets Tuesdays and Thursdays for vocal and performance training. “This year we’re adding dance steps to our shows, because it reinforces our teaching, is fun, and makes us better singers!” Dues for electives are in addition to, and not included with other program fees. Evenings are reserved for community music groups. We’ll be forming an adult ensemble group, as well as a teen pop band. Teens and adults are encouraged to contact us for more information on how to join. Annual memberships will save you 20% off all personal lessons and small groups. MaMuMi Memberships are a great gift and reminder to keep up your lessons. “Just like any sport or activity, practice is critical to skills development, and ultimate success. We encourage daily practice and a weekly personal lesson as well as weekly group rehearsals to prepare our ‘game’.” Memberships are a great value for all participants who desire the ultimate results from their efforts. ASMC and Homeschool music programs offer a wide variety of concepts so that students have an opportunity to explore many facets of music. These low-cost programs open the door for many to get started on their musical journey, and as Bob Marley says, “Once you have a start, the rest is inevitable.” Reuben and Ronda Pali’s commitment to music education far exceeds the classroom, with a select group of talented and committed students being sponsored solely by the owners themselves. The proceeds collected from the July 14th Fundraiser will go towards the expansion and renewal of musical equipment and instruments as well as the addition of a van for The ASMC’s carpool. Maui Music Mission’s Open House Fundraiser is a start to a new venture for all of us together. Friday July 14th from 4 to 7 pm at 252 Lahainaluna Rd, Lahaina, HI 96791.
